Toronto named hub in TBWA’s new digital network

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

As seen in Strategy Magazine.

TBWA Worldwide has tapped 700 of its specialists around the world to form a network of 19 offices – including Toronto – to unite their digital offerings.

The Digital Arts Network (DAN) will focus on digital initiatives such as e-commerce, social media, analytics and audience behaviour. The idea behind the new organizational structure is for clients to gain access to the best of both global and local digital talent.

“Say we need Java expertise, or a specific CMS tool. We don’t need to have it in-house because we can just reach out to Germany because Germany is doing CMS,” said Tasha Dean, head of production and digital director at TBWA\Toronto.

In Toronto, the DAN team will focus on social media and analytics. Some of the brands it works with include Gatorade, Nissan Infinity, KPMG and Yellow Tail.

In most cases, existing digital departments within TBWA offices will be rebranded as part of the Digital Arts Network and the DAN operations will operate as part of the local TBWA office.

Other markets to house DAN offices include Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, China, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UAE, U.K. and the U.S.

TBWA Among Omnicom Group Agencies to Capture Top Honours

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

New York: Omnicom Group Inc. agencies BBDO, DDB and TBWA led The Gunn Report 2010, finishing with three of the top five honors in both the Most Awarded Network in the World and Most Awarded Digital Agency in the World competitions.

The Gunn Report, created in 1999, combines the winners’ lists from all of the world’s most important award contests, thus establishing the annual worldwide league tables for the advertising industry.

For the fifth straight year, BBDO was named Most Awarded Network in the World. DDB was ranked the second Most Awarded Network, followed by TBWA in fifth place. Since 1999 only four networks have ever led The Gunn Report network table — and but for one, all have been the Omnicom networks BBDO, DDB or TBWA.

The Most Awarded Digital Agency in the World was DDB Stockholm, while DDB UK and Goodby Silverstein & Partners also finished within the top five. Another Omnicom Group agency, AlmapBBDO, captured Most Awarded Agency in the World.

The recent 2011 International AME Awards will contribute to Omnicom’s continued high ranking.
This year, DDB won the Grand AME for client Volkswagen’s “The Fun Theory.” Three of the four highly coveted Platinum Awards also went to Omnicom companies, with the North American Platinum Award handed to Zimmerman Advertising for Lane Bryant’s “Not what Mom had in mind,” the European Platinum to DDB Stockholm for Volkswagen’s “The Fun Theory,” and the Asia Pacific Platinum to TBWA/Hakuhodo Adidas’s “Sky Comic.”

DDB Stockholm also won the 2011 Green AME Award for “The Fun Theory” campaign for Volkswagen.

“Our agencies are committed to doing highly creative and effective work on behalf of our clients. Awards are a byproduct of that commitment and proof that they are succeeding,” Omnicom President and CEO John Wren said.

TBWA on AdBuzz Canada

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Rob Schwartz, CCO of TBWA/Chiat/Day, discusses access to inspiration and ideas and the great advertising coming out of Canada. It’s easy to see his excitement for the business and Tom Ritchie of AdBuzz Canada does well in steering Rob towards some interesting topics.

In particular he talks about Canadian agencies, and advertisers by extension, punching above our weight based on the great work despite limited budgets. Our own Allen Oke and team are highlighted re: TBWA\Toronto’s efforts on the Nissan Sentra SE-R Project.

TBWA\Brussels – Natural Gas Commercial

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

From the Stimulant e-newsletter–

“When tasked with applying a texture to the feeling of warmth, TBWA\Brussels decided that the softness of wool would make the best visual representation of the comfort provided by natural gas heat. So, for this spot, they busted out their knitting needles – we’re assuming a whole bunch of them – and knitted a giant cozy. A house cozy to be exact. Only in heaven did we think there would be a house where the need for socks would be completely eliminated. Showering might be tough though.”
